The Pools First Loss: Northern Alabama Lions (And More!)

This afternoon in the Atlantic Sun we experienced the first loss in our pool when Patriotic Doug's (12) North Alabama was beaten by (5) Florida Gulf Coast in a game that was closer than the 69-58 final score indicated. This game had everything, #12 on North Alabama looks like an alien, we had a player that looked like Logan Paul and a player named George Washington III. Earlier afternoon Atlantic Sun conference tournament basketball on a Wednesday in March is awesome! Staying in this conference, early in the evening (10) Stetson blew the doors off favorite (7) Eastern Kentucky, handing Conservative Doug his first loss.

We had plenty more losses in our pool today. I was not expecting the bloodbath to start on day 3, but here we are. I won't mention every loss, but let's start in the Horizon League where (7) Northern Kentucky easily handled a very popular pool pick in (4) Oakland, knocking out almost one third of the entries in that conference. The final score of that game does not reflect how dominant Northern Kentucky was. Over in the Northeast we had two major upsets with (7) Wagner dismantling (2) Central Connecticut and (5) Stonehill knocking out (4) Le Moyne, handing out 8 pool losses between those two games. Additionally, a few other one-off teams lost, which is reflected in the latest standings.

For those of you that still have not saved a link to the standings, go ahead and click here to see the latest version of where you currently stand. Kevdurks has moved into 1st place, the newlywed couple of Steve & TO are now in 2nd and Tomass is holding down the 3rd spot. on the flip side, Patriotic Doug is our first 2 loss entry.

Coming up in the next blog: We will be previewing Arch Madness, and the 13 other conference tournament games happening on Thursday.
