The Western Athletic Conference tournament tips off Wednesday, and the 1-seed, Utah Valley may end up being ineligible. The conference is demanding that Utah Valley pay $1m today and if they do not comply, they will be removed from the conference tournament. If they do in fact get removed from the tournament, they will turn "ineligible" in our pool and unfortunately will count as a loss for all 23 of us that picked them. This sort of scenario seems to pop up every 5 years, but it is usually related to grades or violating some obscure NCAA rule, not a team being extorted for $1m. 💸
